Laptop trouble

So yesterday my laptop fell off the couch (as its done previously). There seemingly were no issues as it was working fine. When I woke up I tried to turn on the computer and nothing happened (none of the lights are flashing at all). I opened up the keyboard, etc. put everything in place and Im still having the same issue. The only problems I can see is that some of the plastic cracked.

Anyone have ideas how to try and resolve this? Seems that something isnt recognizing that there is power.

Try popping out your battery and putting it back in. If that doesn't work, you may have to bring it in to get checked. Most laptops are nearly impossible to fix yourself, but that depends on the model.

Yeah completely unplugged it (battery and cord) and that didnt work. I read somewhere about pushing down the power button for 30 seconds or more, so maybe that will work. Otherwise it may be time to buy a new laptop, just sucks as the computer is fine, just something with the connectors is messed up.

I know with one of my old laptops I had to remove the battery completely and had to plug it in to get it to work. Something about the battery went 'wonky' . The 30 second thing is to reset the bios and it sometimes work.

Take the battery off of it, and then put the plug directly into it and then into the wall. Try that.
If that doesn't work, most likely the problem will be some piece of hardware that was damaged.

What model laptop is it?
Do you get ANY lights at all?
Some of the newer laptops have a little light on the Tab/Caps Lock Key that will flash and tell you what is wrong with the laptop.

Oh so I figured it out.

Something under the panel was disconnected and since the panel wasnt going on exactly right it must not have been reconnecting when I was putting it back together. I randomly noticed it and decided that I would manually connect it and then put the panel together. That instantly fixed the problem.

The reason I didnt give much information was I was at work and didnt have access to the computer.

Please help, someone loaned me a Dell inspiron 600m laptop, and it just shut down on me, first off, the battery was fine so don't bring that up, second, I'm doing this question off my iPod, so don't say i'm lying. I just turned on the computer this morning and it looked like it was working just, I went on YouTube to do the usual, and then in the middle of a show i was watching, it shut off on me just like that. No, the battery did not die!! The charger works, and now the laptop won't turn back on, i'm really frustrated and don't understand why this could happen at a time like this, please help? X(

P.S. The laptop's stand-by settings were set to never on all.

Is the fan working? If it overheats, it will shutdown suddenly also, with a sluggish and reduced FPS as a precursor.
