Who Rides, Knows about, or just likes ... Horses?

Thought I might as well see if anyone here was a horse person.

I'm getting some horses sculpted for miniatures, and want to get as much feedback during the sculpting process as possible.

I'll post pictures in here as I receive them and hope for useful comments.

This is the second phase of work, on the first of a few multi-part horses.

I own three horses. That looks good, very generic. Where you hoping for a certain breed or is generic what you were looking for?

I dont really know much about horse breeds.

I looked through a selection of photos, and noticed that several of the wild british horse varieties, american mustang horses, and a few other breeds look (at least to me) to be very very similar.

It was a photo of one of those (not sure if it was a mustang or british variant) that i sent the sculptor as the basic inspiration. He's doing me three horses in interchangable pieces.

I kind of picked what I thought looked like a generic horse.

For this particular variation, I asked for a horse is pose and breed inspired by this pic

Is the horse supposed to be jumping or rearing? If its jumping, it looks great though the lower jaw seems to be larger then you'd expect. Not sure if its part of the breed or not. But if its supposed to be rearing, I recommend having the front legs spread out more. Its what most people would consider to look like then.

The four legs are in pretty much the same position as the photo of a rearing horse posted earlier in the thread.

Are you saying the photo I picked of a rearing horse, doesn't look like a rearing horse??

No, just saying that most people would imagine a rearing horse with the front legs spread out from each other more vertically.

I wouldn't worry, I'm getting 5 rear ends, 5 heads, 5 tails and 6 different positions of each of the two front legs.

I have the first casts of some metal versions. They look cool

Most have gone back to get a few more extra pieces, rather than posting pictures of metal components, I'll post after the first stage modifications are done, and post some painted copies.
