Apparently security is not done in Belgian courts. :-|

I was told there are no civilian guns in Europe
Gun control still does not work I see

That's rather black and white, isn't it?

I think it is great that Europe is gun-free. I don't even give them shit about it, honestly. The reason: It is their fucking country, let 'em do what they want, even if we think it is insane and foolhardy.

That is what sovereignty is all about.

In that same vein, "Go fuck yourself Mexico!"

Definitely worth remembering there Rey, that first two bits especially. I met a couple nice Mexicans on study abroad... what'd they do this time?

Naggie, I was under the impression that if I wanted to stay in Europe I would just go to Belgium. If I were ever arrested I would go to jail, get broken out by my mum just driving up to the fence and all. This seems odd there'd be a shooting, regardless of gun-laws.

MoP, what's with the "increasing levels of violence at the Palais de Justice for years"? Is it b/c of the French name?

Look at the entire picture. Look at the ratio this shit happens in the UK vs in the US. This was the deadliest shooting in 15 years.

I dunno. People's mentality is changing, I suppose? People used to be afraid of 'Justice', whereas now they take it into their own hands.

no it's name is bilingual justitiepaleis in dutch / palais de justice in french

there is more violence in modern societies in general, and it shows up in many parts of society so the judiciary would not be exempt

also the suspect has been arrested and positively identified and has confessed, it is an Iranian refugee who apparantly had lost a rental dispute the judge presided over a couple of years ago
