Been a long time since i set foot on these grounds.
By the look of some of the dates of the most recent posts, not a lot of chatter. Am I coming in at the end or the beginning? Lots of new stuff to get familiar with and way to much forgotten. Do remember a guild called Golden Horde. Anyone know if they are still around?

Re: Been a long time since i set foot on these grounds.
Welcome back,
This is sort of a combination of end 'and' beginning.
Evernight Games finally closed for business in late 2009, and we recreated Monarchy in hope of making a new start. The new start has not really gone very far, but I am hopeful that one day in the future, we'll start moving along again.
This game needs a recode if I'm totally honest. That recode ought to include Facebook interaction and a return of guilded games, but it's taken a back seat to my unfortunate cash situation in real life, and my need to spend coding time working on other things that might just make me some money.
As for TGH. Most people still here remember the Horde fondly. Zann hasn't been by for a while, but Grunt is still around and kicking. In fact, he was the inspiration behind one of the first miniatures created. The Grunt miniature has 'TGH' engraved on the helmet.

the fact that this game isn't integrated with facebook or any other social media site is a huge reason why i still love it
Re: Been a long time since i set foot on these grounds.
I think I'll stick around for a while then. Any suggestions on where to go for advice on building/staffing I should have before coming out of protection? Is there a thread for that?
Always needs to be a balance between real world and fantasy. between having fun and working. So I can appreciate what your saying.

There are a few useful threads in the NPA forum.
The game is not that much different to the one you used to play.
Best advice I can give is to think about the future of your kingdom. When I was a new player in 2001, I remember the best players reaching 3000 acres in the 7 to 10 days of building before everything kicked off. Over the years it reached the point where the elite players were at 7000 to 10000 acres fully build.
I'm not sure any of the 'elite builders' have really come out and openly posted this before, but the key is Build Rate.
Other than a few income and population buildings to keep my cash flowing, I personally wouldn't start to build other buildings until I'm at 3000 to 4000 acres of quarries with a build rate in the high 20's.
If you're thinking, wont that make me vulnerable. Maybe. But if someone hits you, rebuild in the same fasion and destroy them later.
Even once i start building the other buildings my kingdom needs, I'll still build 1 or 2 quarries per turn until I have about 7 or 8k of them.
Have a play with Conquest, it's a good environment to remember the ropes. You start with all your turns at the beginning so have plenty to practise with.

Yes, i to was unaware that this game was back online. I also have a friend who loved to play it back then. Perhaps I will try to locate him to see if he wishes to come back.
