Re: BaN - Booze and Noise [Angelique]
Thinking about war already??
wow! isn't it a bit early? 7 days used to be the standard that guilds players aimed to be ready. Most players are still in NPP.
I thought I had a bit more time, wanted to try and get this 72 hour restore coded before the attacks started. If war starts before that's coded, it wont come into play until next age.
------------
On the chat front, I'm not sure sure that Facebook chats are the most logical place at all.
It's not as if this is a Facebook game, and even when I do get around to doing some form of integration, having a Facebook account will NEVER be a requirement to play. So if your guild uses Facebook for wars, you will be limiting the players who can join.
I was looking into building some form of AJAX chat feature, but that means a bit of functionality that only users with javascript can make use of (a bit like facebook). But at the moment there are more important things to try and get developed. IRC would still be the most logical place IMO.

Re: BaN - Booze and Noise [Angelique]
We're aware of how long/often people usually war at, just some eager folks. You should see the stuff Stijn is messaging me, he's been at the Barnabas Brew again i think
As for facebook, i despise it, but it has the added advantage that all of us are on there? We can start a war chat/channel and leave offline messages for people without having to copy/paste stuff separately to the banner if that makes sense? The hassles of tryign to get everyone to install ICQ in the past were horrid(especially with how bloated it became), we generally moved to MSN cos it was on all windoze machines.
I'm happy for whatever method ends up getting used but i suspect days of old when loads of people actually come online at the same time for a war chat is a thing of the past. MoP and Nagash have started on their own quads at home
Regardless its something we'll sort out at BaN there is bound to be a common ground for us all to connect on.

Re: BaN - Booze and Noise [Angelique]
That sort of came across a bit like I was telling you when to war, and how to run war chats. That wasn't my intention. In the end, you can obviously run your guild however you want.
However, on the Facebook war chat side of things, if it became the 'norm' it would have various consequences for certain scenarios e.g Players that don't want to register with Facebook, players that only 'friend' people they know in real life, players that want to join a guild in secret etc.
The ideal situation would be a standalone chat feature that's built in and available for everyone to use. The problem is, the easiest way to implement one (javascript/ajax) also prevents a subset of players from taking part. IRC does too, but you can always download things like pidgin, or access a javascript based IRC interface etc. I suppose in the end there is no way of creating a chat that 'everyone' can make use of.

Yup, definitely a problem. We'll find a common tool that we can use. Most recruitment i know of we did over fb is only why i mentioned it. We'll see who else is in guild and how to go about it.
Some kinda shoutbox/chat thingy is probably the ideal solution. Providing live chat, and ability to leave messages behind for others

Re: BaN - Booze and Noise [Angelique]
I think the most 'successful' recruitment came from the PM's everyone got. They went out to over 400 people (and that's after taking non-delivery errors into account). At least, I think that was the main success, more people seem to have recently mentioned a random email out of the blue, than the Facebook promotion.
Problem with Facebook updates is that recent changes mean that people need to interact with the page or they stop getting updates. Membership has been climbing, but the number of people seeing updates is falling. Take the official page, the noticed posted on Jan 22nd has been seen by 19 people, anything posted between Jan 1st and then, was seen by between 15 and 35 people. Jump back six months, and the updates were seen on average by 60 to 90 people. The same sort of numbers is true for the private group (although the recent numbers are a little higher than the official page).
The only real way to get stuff 'seen' on Facebook now is for people to like and comment (which a few people do occasionally), share (which is best but nobody does). Also, that needs to mostly happen on the official page, and the private group is a private group so liking something will only show to group members anyway. The alternative is to pay for the ads. They say idea is a reduction in spam, but I think it's more like an attempt to boost the paid advertising services.

We're always thinking of war, Kazman. But no worries, I said "we should go to war in about a week". That gives you ample time to cook up your defenses

I suspect that was likely the Barnabites/Letites, over here we're too busy building rainbows and frolicking in the meadows

Re: BaN - Booze and Noise [Angelique]
When looking at the scores, you can clearly see Red and Blues alike have been absorbing turns. No golden boy has any absorbed turns, so it's prolly safe to say a follower of Leto scouted you, and stole your money!
Kill them Letites!

Re: BaN - Booze and Noise [Angelique]
What are these scores you speak of?
*edit* I've seen them. Them damn letites sitting pretty with no turns absorbed

Re: BaN - Booze and Noise [Angelique]
why do anything this early beside scout, stealing is a waste of turns imo you get more using your turns to build.
Psychos don't explode when sunlight hits them, I don't give a f**k how crazy they are.

Ahh the good old days of drunken warchats.
Using Facebook for warchats?
For Angeliques sake no......Gili will be sharing his drunken photos with us now during war chats.

Between Gili, Lak, MoP and myself we have the alcoholic part covered rather royally.
Mickal's here to look pretty and chat up heathen girls.
Needless to say, our warchats will be brilliant.

Re: BaN - Booze and Noise [Angelique]
As the GM of JustBlind, and thereby leader of the Letites, I am appalled by these charges of thievery!
Outraged!
My men have been instructed to "build like crazy," and I have received nothing but scribes telling me that my most loyal followers have agreed to "build like crazy." We have not stole your monies. On the contrary, seeing how Red and Blue have each absorbed turns, I would assume that one stole from the other, was silly enough to be seen, or was obviously online or found to have a lot of extra cash in a scout, and there was retaliation.
It would appear obvious to me that my Letites, building in peaceful solitude, have been blamed for those Red vs Blue (dare I compare to Bloods vs Crypts?) ancient and eternal drivebys and other nefarious such activities.
*Nods*
And naturally, the culprits, both Red and Blue, both point to Leto to blame, in order to divert suspicion away from themselves.
*Nods*
Oldest trick in the book.
*Puffs at his pipe*
Brilliant detective work aye Watson? Of course it is... So, in closing, go back to stealing from each other, feel free to point the finger at whoever you want, but do not be caught thieving in golden lands. I will not stand for it. *Shakes fist* I will not!
*Tips hat*
Good day to you, heathens!
