Yes Fire---we haven't asked for peace. We didn't ask to be downhit, either. In earlier times, we'd have asked for the community to settle this, but the population isn't big enough for mob justice. We'll play out the age. It continues to be UNCOOL and LAME to downhit when you're on top. Did you notice how NIR never downhit when they were on top?
You must be desperate for the win to reduce yourselves to such tactics.

I'm pretty sure that angies did it the first coupe of ages, I remember getting hit when we had no chance near the end of the game

Re: G says it Sucks to be You (Us vs Everyone)
Ohhhhhh my goodness. Come on guys, we've gone over the logistics of this repeatedly. and repeatedly. and repeatedly. Every war thread where someone feels wronged boils down to this, time and time again, and there is never any resolution. One side says "it is what it is" and one side says "you're terrible people to doing this to us we never dream of doing this to you". Everyone has their turns at being on either side.
No one will ever be totally happy about a hit with this size of a game, and the current distribution of players, faith and size. Quite frankly, no one was ever totally happy with hits even when there were 15 guilds to choose from to hit. We all like to think it was all better and even-keeled and utopian back in the day, but the truth was it the exact same. There was always at least one war that turned into a drama-filled flame-fest on the boards and got everyone's blood pumping every age.
Nobody likes being on the shit end of the stick, but someone always will be, and always has been. Does it make me feel better about the situation to say that? No. I don't like dishing it out because I don't like receiving it. We've already covered our reasoning for the war, I'm not going to rehash it.
And complaining about it on the boards does little except spin your wheels. Make a choice to change your situation to the best of your ability, or accept it and do what you can within it. Its not personal, I think all of you guys are hella fun to play against or with, in guilds or in other games. Disagreements will happen, lets do something about it and move on like big kids.

Leif...you should be eagerly reading news from my fledgling guild...I know I am small and weak...etc...but I wanted you to not feel that your faith war missed anyone...even us late sword slingers. One of your realms ...has felt my awesome wrath...(not really

Re: G says it Sucks to be You (Us vs Everyone)
Fine, I will take the bait.
"Thus, what is of supreme importance in war is to attack the enemy's strategy."
Gentlemen and ladies, I am not here to try and garner support for a war that was fought at such a numerical advantage, only to explain myself, for history will only remember us as those who fight unfairly. The enemy that is currently arrayed against us is vast and filled with great tactical and military minds. That enemy has made their intentions clear to us from the beginning of the age. The enemy drove that point home when they stated they expected to have a go at our kingdoms near the end of the age.
Now, tell me, good folk, why would we wait to be attacked by a ruthless enemy when we can turn that complacency against them and, with the grace of Leto, win the age? Nothing is certain in this game, not even our alleged victory, nor have you heard any of us claim such.
When I make a decision to go to war against a guild, I always weigh the numbers and consequences of such an action. I don't want to lose players because of an unfair down hit or prolonged conflict. If I want a good win for my kingdoms, I must challenge opponents of equal or greater strength, otherwise my guild and my kingdoms will lack in sufficient power to rule these lands. The end of the age is different. I intend to win. I intend to do it as efficiently as possible.
We attacked your strategy and your complacency in joining and fully supporting this faith war with our brothers in SUCK. Faith sweep in other vernacular. Where in the code of war does it say a guild must wait to be attacked by someone of lesser strength at the end of the age? Where does it say that this is honorable or just? Is it because NIR or JC did so that we must now follow in their footsteps? No. Not today, not ever.
I respect your views, I do not share them.
It is not wise to allow one's enemy to formulate a strategy and then let them test it out on one's kingdoms. That is a sure way to lose one's kingdom.
Call it lame.
Call it pointless.
Call it a reason to punish Gatekeepers next age.
I just call it a war. A war we had always intended to win and fight with respect for our opponents. You want to pull the same tactic next age, do so. We will be busy formulating new ones. We won't complain. We will fight until the end. Feel free to follow in our footsteps, it always encourages us to find new ways to win.
Unfortunately, the part in our charter where we stated that we do not follow the community's consensus on what is "good or fair" had been removed for brevity's sake. But this quote should explain fine:
"Our mission is simple: Protect the land from those who wish to do it harm."
Mission accomplished.

Your memory does not serve you well. The realms all rallied faithwar against NIR during the last weeks of every age since Guilds restarted. Our huge size and the then low penalty for restore made it so that even massive damage by multiple hurricanes was negated by a quick restore. Complaints about not being able to get past the restored super kingdoms are what prompted Kaz to recode restores to be much more devastating to larger kingdoms.I'm pretty sure that angies did it the first coupe of ages, I remember getting hit when we had no chance near the end of the game![]()

Re: G says it Sucks to be You (Us vs Everyone)
Ok, I have a question.
Would you guys prefer a couple of days of possibly buggy possible revenge? Or to start building and possibly end up with the game resetting due to server migration bugs?
As a part of this migration I'm having to make a selection of tweaks to enable the game to function with the newer server, and it could well have some pretty major effects.
You WILL start seeing the PHP "white screen of death" instead of error messages from the migration onwards, I'll be logging errors on the back-end instead. This is a security measure that really should have been implemented years ago, but the simple fact is that there could well be parts of the game that currently generate errors that we don't notice, that will generate clear WSOD that we DO notice.
Basically, the game database was backed up on Tuesday last week (26th November) at 21:33 GMT. If I reset the game when I move server, and count that reset as the 'true' reset and HoF, for a couple of days you guys 'could' play out the end of the age again, checking to make sure that things are working.
Or we can start a new age, and it might be a little buggy and possibly need resetting during the first war if things are wrong. IMO replaying the end of the age will be better because it means a war situation, and should mean finding any bugs is quicker.
You've got until I reset to decide this.

It's probably a good idea to let us war out the bugs. I'm down with that option.

I agree with Joe, lets just have at it. If none of this counts I am willing to let Joe take all kind of land from my kingdom or even have Seska scum kill me ... for the sake of catharsis or, as you would call it, stress testing the game.
I think I would make a great pope.
