Worst Case Scenario

I admit that I may be a little weird, but every time I across a movie or book that gives a scenario for the end of the world or civilization, I begin to think of what I would do should worst comes to worst. Be it alien invasions (which I think I would just curl up in a ball and say 'fuck you' and die) to zombie apocalypses, my mind mulls them all over.

So, my first question is am I alone in this? Second is what would you do for one or all of the following scenarios?

- Plague
- Zombies!
- Alien Invasion
- Radical Environment Change (like 2012)

Personally, my answer to the first three would most likely be the same. There's a massive provincial park only about an hours drive from here. From canoeing and hiking in it, I have a multitude of maps there. I would select an area and hunker down there until shit rolls over.

I think in most cases I'm the sorta person who would end up dead in the first wave of.. whatever... That's just how my luck is.

If I survived the initial bit though? I guess for a plague I'd try to ensure that I kept to myself and, maybe like you suggested, head to the higher ground where it's a bit less.... crowded. I'd probably head up North to the Highlands and rent out or find a cottage somewhere.

Zombies would kill me - I just wouldn't survive no matter how far I would try to escape...

Alien invasion? I would love to see them... obviously not too close and personal. I suspect though that there would be no hiding from them and that they would find us somehow. If this were to happen, I could easily imagine myself travelling with a group of people from one place to the next; kinda like War of the Worlds.

Changes or Natural disasters always... fascinate me, I guess. I sorta wish that, if I'm alive when the end of the world comes, that I can actually witness it.... That goes for all of the above scenarios. It's not for some sick and twisted amusement though - I'm actually curious to see what we would all do and who comes out on top. I think it would be interesting to see if we all band together as human beings or if some people do because little... **** and screw others over. Yes, I know it might turn to 'everybody for their self' for some essentials but what about the bigger picture?

Either way - I would be dead. I'm the cannon fodder. Or the Zombie food... or the alien abductee or the one who gets vaporised... etc etc etc

-Plague: Stay the fuck out in the country, hole up and try to wait it out. Sure as hell avoid any other people I cam across, and probably die laughing at all the cityfolk that preceded me.

-Zombies: My favorite and most often thought of scenario.

It comes down to a question of thus: Zombies, or infected? I mean, both of them are vicious brain eatting creatures of hell, but the characterists vary widely.

For instance, if its zombies, the first thing I would do is booby trap my property and surrounding properties for at least a mile in every direction. We're talking Tannerite strategically placed within 600 yards of any window or high point in my house. I would have gun vices mounted in every window sill with at least one gun available - both low cal and high power, as available.

Additionally, since zombies don't actually walk, I'd set trip lines in my yard starting at 150 yards out. When they trip, its and easy, semi-prone target to shoot at and if you miss low, at least it will still probably hiot them in the head.

At close range, I'd have shotguns - if they are close enough for shotguns, you prolly want to make sure. Remember the double tap.

I would gather my family and unbitten friends at my place, and shoot deer and peoples cows to survive - I am a butcher, killing, skinning, gutting, quartering, and butchering are my thing. Food will not be a problem.

NOW. If its infected its a different ball game. They run fast, they are super strong and agile even if they lack but the most basic intelligence.

Trip lines are straight out. COntact explosive charges would still be in, but you won't have a lot of time to shoot at them at range, so I'd instead keep several shotguns loaded, and teach everyone in the house how to load 'em so I could keep a shotgun firing all the time.

In either scenario, I'd rob stores or factories for reloading supplies and amunition and whatever food I could find, then hole up in the country and pretty much shoot anything or anyone that comes to close without proper identification - IE, family, friends. DO NOT drive down MY road, I will shoot you in the head to be safe.

ALIENS!: More extreme than zombies, more explosives but I wouldn't hole up in any one place. Probably head for the mountains with every scrap of ammunition and every firearm I own or aquire, family in tow, and then we'll see what happens. Would rather die standing on my feet than cowering on my knees, in either case.

Global Warming (AKA ELE): Fuckit, everyone but a couple hundred thousand died in all of those movies. The goverment wouldn't tell us what was up before it happened, so likely all you'd have time to do is get shitfaced and enjoy the final show.

not odd at all, pretty much every one I've met has at the very least a zombie survival plan. (I live in the city they used as raccoon city, and the part of the set silent hill, and parts of most zombie movies).

so lets see, Zombies: My plan is acquire basic supplies (lots of canned food, guns, blunt weapon, camping gear and water filtration and seeds) during the first couple days while zombies are minimal and before chaos seizes major supply areas. Part 2, would be to steal a train and take it out to rural Manitoba or Alberta where to an area where populations are small. Plant seeds and use the train as secure shelter, and hope winter kills off most of the zombies. Freezing solid might destroy the brain.

Plague, in the early stages of the outbreak drive to a small rural community in the north and hope to wait it out.

Aliens, avoid major cities and hope the army wins. In the case of Aliens were all basically F'd

Natural disasters, Seems global warmings the issue of the day, I'd just head north a bit, just inland enough that great lake flooding wouldn't be an issue for me. Honestly I'm already in one of the best places to be for that occurrence.
