20GB free cloud storage

Post by Kaz » Tue Aug 13, 2013 10:23 pm

I recently found a site that offers cloud storage much like dropbox, skydrive etc.

This one starts you off with 15GB free storage as standard, plus an additional 5GB if you sign up using a referral link like this one.

Not only will you get an extra 5GB of space, but as your referrer, I do too :) win win.

If anyone's looking for some backup storage space give it a try. Hell, you could give it a try anyway, even if you didn't need it, just to boost the backup storage facility I'll have available ;)

I am looking for more cloud space - my servers backups sit on my g-drive on it. Fortunately neither site, nor db's are to big. I'm more thinking of a do it myself kinda solution. Ive got > 1.5 TB free on my server, there are a few 'cloud' like storage apps ...just need time to play with *sigh*

I'm still getting to know this system, but there are developer API's, and also the software for quick easy filesystem saving includes a linux distro.

I'm pretty sure this essentially means it can be used for off-server backup cycling, I just need to get my head around it. Essentially, the linux software ought to create a mapped drive direct to the storage, at least that's how the windows software works.

Other advantages are - assuming you can get referrals - there is no cap to the amount of free space you can get. There are people with over 1TB of free space. Obviously this referrals system will eventually end, or at least the amount of free space you get will reduce, but anything we get now is permanent.

Also, as the site is created and hosted by Barracuda Networks (a trusted network, security and storage company), the hardware for the storage (and the security implemented) ought to remain top of the range.

Plus... Signing up with that link is likely to equate to more backup space for Monarchy ;)

Its certainly how i back up my server Ubuntu / Grive (google drive). Boot up my pc in the morning which has the same google drive logins and my backups are "magically" here :)

*edit* Just signed up, so you can get your free shit. No intention of using it.

You need to install the software onto your PC, or phone before I get the 5GB and then uninstall it if you want, but I can see a referral with a status of `awaiting email authentication` from you :)

I ought to be at 45GB soon :)
