Geography of Tonan (Tismad, Maxim, Mo-Pri)
This is off the back of the request for info to make maps

[edit]
A few posts down is the first draft of a map of the eartern part of Tismad (where the empire, istan and free cities are located). I've left a few parts to be named prior to creating a final draft and moving on to other maps.

First off, it would add a lot more consistency if anyone still had copies of old Maxim or Mo-Pri maps? (I'll ask that on facebook too).
As I see it, we have 1 huge continent Tismad, think along the lines of 5 continents mashed into 1 for size. We also have two 'island' continents, Mo-Pri and Maxim. Ideally, we need to think about the maps in terms of the past first.
The main areas are as follows
Tismad : Guildlands - The guilds game (think 3 combined continents)
Tismad : Chaoslands - The non-guilds games (think 2 combined continents)
Tismad : Valid - takes up some of the guildlands (1 of the guildlands continents)
Maxim - Island continent
Mo-Pri - Island continent
phase 1.
Before the birth of the gods.
phase 2.
Tismad - Heavily populated, Guildlands are huge, the largest they've ever been. Chaoslands are also pretty large. mostly populated by humans, elves and goblins
Mo-Pri - homelands of sidhe, centaur, elemental
Maxim - inhabited by hidden populations of droben and dwarves
phase 3.
Tismad - Guildlands reduced in size. Valid (a continent within tismad) taking up some of that guildlands territory. Chaoslands as before
Mo-Pri - devastated (no storyline to describe how)
Maxim - discovered and inhabited by those who fled Mo-Pri. droben discovered in northern mountains. numbers of sidhe and centaur dwindle as humans elves and goblins start to inhabit maxim too. vampires appear.
phase 4.
Tismad - Guildlands devastated (burned in the fires of isonias demise), valid devastated (Armies obliterated in an instant). Chaoslands in turmoil, some survivors make it.
Mo-Pri - remains uninhabited from previous devastation phase. pretty much forgotten.
Maxim - suffered from a multitude of devastations during first battle between gods. huge hole left in the middle of the continent from savage earthquakes. droben and dwarven colonies forced to flee, increasing known numbers.
phase 4a (start, and `assumed` present).
Tismad - Survivors from the devastated guildlands and valid encroach onto much of the ground previously considered chaoslands. The Unity Empire is eventually born into this area. The small amount of land left of the chaoslands becomes Istan. A few scattered cities remain outside of the direct control of the empire or istan. devastation and desert border the region creating the assumption that the rest of tismad is still uninhabitable.
Mo-pri - pretty much forgotten
Maxim - Assumed uninhabitable
phase 4b (`actual` present)
Mo-Pri - Lush and verdant. What ancient ruins remain are almost completely reclaimed by the jungle.
Maxim - The huge chasm in the centre of the island continent in now filled with a great inland sea, surrounded by volcanic mountains. Forests growing around the outside of the island consuming leftover ruins that survived the onslaught of earthquakes, drought and fire.
Tismad - Beyond the desert connecting what was once the guildlands with the chaoslands (now the empire and istan) the guildlands and valid are recovering. Not as lush as mo-pri, but getting there. ruins in slightly better condition, but also being consumed by the forest.
Slight Continental Movement
Tismad is slowly breaking apart between guildlands and chaoslands. Phase 0 it would have been slightly more fat/round, by phase 4 its slightly more thin/long.
Maxim is slowly moving away from Tismad heading South (S, SE or SW). Before phase 1 (prior to the birth of the elder gods) Maxim and Tismad were connected. Many of the droben exiled themselves to mountains in the mountainous regions where the two continents connected (north of Maxim, and the appropriate part of Tismad - probably the valid region as the droben appear there too).
Mo-Pri is slowly moving towards Tismad and Maxim.

I just knocked these together quickly as an example. Obviously this would be much nicer if it was done using a propper map making program, rather than doodled in paintshop pro

I need to work out a nice way of doing the topography, but this is a huge map of Tonan

If anyone wants a vector copy to play with you should be able to open this with vector based programs like inkscape

Made a slight change from the previous post, let me know if you want a vector image

Here is a first draft of a map showing The Empire, Istan and the Free Cities.

Larger Version
http://www.monarchygame.com/images/eastern_tismad.png
I need to fill in a few gaps, please help out with some ideas for place names. There are obviously lots of other places, but these are going to be the key features and will need names and descriptions for roleplay purposes.
1. River (including southern fork)
2. River (northern fork)
3. Cave System (Droben) North of the Eastern Mountains
4. Mines (Dwarven) South of the Eastern Mountains
5. Ruin (north of the Desert)
6. Ruin (south Desert)
7. Island (with obelisk)
8. Capital City of the Empire (Unity Island)
9. Fortified Port (The Empire)
10. Fortified Port (The Free Cities)
11. Fortified Port (Istan)
12. Fortified City (Northern Empire)
13. Fortified City (Central Empire)

I never knew all this stuff existed. How cool!

Just thought I toss out a few. I don't expect any to be accepted, so it won't hurt my feelings, but it may help spark some interest.

Re: Geography of Tonan (Tismad, Maxim, Mo-Pri)
It's probably way too complicated, but could the map be semi- interactive with the active game with regions being associated with player numbers? The regions would change (over time, as the games changed) but it would lend a feeling of ownership to the map by the players. I would like seeing my kingdom's name on the map...

Re: Geography of Tonan (Tismad, Maxim, Mo-Pri)
I know it's been a while, but an interactive map that interacts with the Monarchy game would be too complex. Plus, most of the map is for roleplay adventures, rather than battle roleplay. The main area of battle (at least initially) would be the southern parts of the Empire, closest to Istan and the Free Cities.
I've used some of Sikil's suggestions, plus some of my own to finish the previous map.
The Empire
---------------------------------------
Capital on Unity Island (has port): Crown Keep
Northern City: Snowhaven
Central City: Greymoor
Eastern City (has port): Seaguard
Southern City (disputed kingdoms): Castlefield
Istan
--------------------------------------
Northern City: Ryada
Southern City (has port): Ilora
The Free Cities
--------------------------------------
Northern City: Ironwald
Southern City (has port): Southport
The Desert of Decay
--------------------------------------
Northern Ruin: Ruins of Whitebridge
Southern Ruin: Ash Barrow
The Eastern Mountains
--------------------------------------
Northern Settlement (Droben): Mount Darkridge
Southern Settlement (Dwarven): Silverdell
Other
--------------------------------------
River (including Souther Fork: River Glasswater
River (northern fork): River Linmere
Bay (northern river fork): Scarwater Bay
Bay (southern river fork): Southport Cove
Island (with transport stone): Raven Island
Crossing (between The Empire & Free Cities): Bloodbridge
Crossing (between Free Cities & Istan): Millers Crossing
