Today I upgraded us to the latest version of phpbb. IN doing so, I decided to see if enabling the account switch would break the ban system again. Both seem to now work, so the account linking has been restored.
For those of you who remember account switch from Evernight, the implementation at Monarchy is slightly different. The linking process is controlled from your main monarchy website account, rather than through the message boards.
To link accounts, log into the main site, and select the 'tool' option (which - currently - replaces the 'password' field in the layout).
Once you're in the tool, select 'Manage Identities'. Enter the name of an existing account on the message boards into the 'Create a New Identity' box, and then click 'New Ident'.
A private message will be sent to your message boards account including a 32 character authentication code. Copy that code back into the Identity tool, and you will link the accounts.
Once the account has been linked, it will need to be activated. You can do this by ticking the appropriate box next to the identity on your list of linked idents, and clicking to 'update identity settings'. Your 'main' or primary identity can be set at the same time.
Your main, has no obvious bearing on the account-switch function, however, when creating a new kingdom, the main will be the default identity selected for the Hall of Fame.
Once you have linked an identity to your account, you can also activate that identity to post on the Wiki. This can be done using 'Wiki Settings' from the account tool.
